Abolitionist Hymnal Debut

Tomorrow I'll be heading to Adrian, MI to debut some of the Abolitionist Hymnal songs I've been working on.  This has been a fun challenge translating these 19th century songs to reflect the continued struggle against human trafficking in the world.

One of the few modifications and edits that I've done with these public domain texts is to pull out the "Southern US = slaving rebels" language and look for more global themes.  Where it seemed appropriate I've changed some of the places and scenarios mentioned to reflect our current global crisis.

Watch for demos of these songs on the podcast and for an album to be released sometime next year.  And if you are in any particular knowledge of how folks like us in Detroit or other midwest cities could actively work toward the abolition of modern-day slavery, please provide any helpful links in the comments!

Peace,
Carl
